2014 Hunter’s Red
Our 2014 Hunter’s Red blends two Spanish varietals: 90% Grenache and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, both from the Lonesome Spring Ranch at the east end of the Yakima Valley.
The Grenache was stemmed, but not crushed, leaving the berries mostly whole. The grapes were fermented 8-10 days on the skins with punch downs 4-5 times a day. Once dry, the wine was pressed into neutral oak barrels. Whole berry fermentation and barrel ageing allows the wine to be fruit driven with a hint of oak.
A medium body wine, Hunter’s Red carries aromas of cherry, tobacco, nutmeg and black tea. Black currant and cherry are the dominant fruit flavors with a tangy currant and light cola finish
Pairs nicely with grilled meats, hard cheeses–and good company.
This wine is dedicated to our early ancestors who came long before us and the archaeologists who continue to discover clues to these ancient civilizations.
