2013 was a fabulous year for Washington wines.
100% Pinot Grigio from Yakima Valley fermented in stainless steel. (We have an oaked fermented white wine. Please try our Lavender Fields Forever) We source the grapes from Pontin Del Roza Vineyard, a very cool site that allow the fruit to mature slowly. The vines are 12-15 years old and produce a delicious balanced cluster. Pinot Grigio is an interesting grape. Its a clone of Pinot Noir, so it has a gray (Grigio/Gris) tint to the skins. Most white grapes have a green/yellow color.
We whole cluster press the Pinot Grigio, making the wine light and elegant. The less skin contact, the wine has a pale yellow tint. The wine has citrus aromas lemon and lime. There are underlying layers of gooseberry and honeydew melon. On the palate, the wine has lush fruit flavors of fresh pear and more gooseberry. The wine has a silky finish with hints of lemon pie.
Pairs nicely with hard cheeses such as pecorino. Goes great with our Northwest cuisine such as crab, shrimp, oysters and shellfish.
