2009 Barbera Red Mountain
The wines grown on Red Mountain are known for being bold with dense concentrated fruit and this wine is all that and then some. The grapes come from Red Heaven Vineyard, a gentle south facing slope located near Ciel du Cheval vineyard.
Aged for 22 months in french oak, this wine developed into a wine with multiple layers and flavors. The color is a deep hue of ox blood, with aromas of rose hips, coffee, mint leaf and cocoa. On the palate, the wine is filled with velvet fruit with notes of blackberry, mulberry and cherry jam. The silky tannins support the wine with a finish of lingering pomegranate with a plum medley.
This wine is ready to drink NOW. Enjoy with hearty dishes such as grilled meats, BBQ. This wine really likes tomato based pastas.
